Transitional Housing Program Plus

Transitional Housing Program Plus | The Transitional Housing Program is an important piece of the puzzle for many foster youth who are moving into adulthood. These youth often do not have mentorship and can fall through the cracks. They can end up in situations less than ideal. Our social workers become the mentors that guide them and give them the tools to be successful as they grow. Some of the items they help with are:

  • Housing
  • Items for their new home (furniture, dishes, etc.)
  • ID card, License, and/or Social Security Card
  • Budgeting
  • Cooking and Cleaning
  • Banking
  • Parenting (if applicable)
  • Connecting with education, trade schools, employment
  • Finding community mentors and positive influencers for their lives

Traveling with Children First Transitional Housing Program Plus

The Children First THP team regularly takes our members to learn about and experience different areas where they can gather resources for education and career path advancement. Recently they went to Ashland, Oregon and Santa Cruz, California!

Many of these members have never even been out of state. They went to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland and after the performance, they stayed for the Post Matinee Discussion where actors discussed what goes into putting on such a production. Once that was over, they also took a tour of
Southern Oregon University and learned about what programs are offered.

While in Santa Cruz, they toured the NHS Skateboard Museum and Factory. Afterward they visited UC Santa Cruz and went to the Boardwalk where some youth rode on the rides and swam at the bay.
