Getting Started
Becoming a Foster Parent may be easier than you think. Families come in many shapes and sizes. Whether or not you have children of your own, are married or single, the most important criteria you must meet is to possess the desire and motivation to become a positive, stable influence in the life of a child. At Children First, we seek families who will be accepting of the child and who are willing to make the commitment necessary to accept a child as they are, and to support the child in their healing as well as support them in becoming a healthy responsible person who has the resilience and confidence to make good decisions.

Basic requirements for becoming a foster parent with Children First are:
- You must be at least 21 years old.
- Be genuinely interested in loving, nurturing and supporting a foster child and do your best to provide for their needs.
- Provide a safe, clean, child friendly environment including age appropriate activities, encouragement of social interaction and opportunities for extracurricular activities.
- Have enough bedroom space available to accommodate the children placed into your home.
- Complete a criminal background clearance
